A Galloway Township man was arrested Thursday afternoon after cops say he fled from a traffic stop and was found with a loaded gun in his pants.

The scene unfolded around 3:00 when two Atlantic City police officers, after observing a driver disregard several red lights, conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of North New York Avenue.

According to police, the driver, 21-year-old Jonathan Ewing of Galloway Township, immediately exited his vehicle and refused numerous commands to return. Ewing began to run from the officers, resulting in a foot pursuit. Ewing was eventually caught and found to be in possession of a loaded handgun in his waistband; the gun was reported stolen from Berkley Township. Cops also located numerous prescription pills and a digital scale.

Ewing has been charged with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
