Latest Movie Being Filmed In Atlantic City, New Jersey

Many great movies have been filmed (in part) in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The latest example stars Shirley MacLaine and Stephen Dorff. It’s titled, “People Not Places.”

MacLaine has previously revealed that the movie is about a woman in her twilight years, who befriends a homeless person, while also dealing with issues involving her son.

MacLaine recently (April 24, 2024) turned 90 years old in real life.

On her birthday, MacLaine revealed in a social media post that, "As you read this, I am getting ready to begin a new movie scheduled to film on the East Coast.”

The photo that is featured above and included directly below is a scene from the movie that was filmed last week on Tennessee Avenue in Atlantic City.

MacLaine can be seen in this photo towards the right side.

New Jersey is the rightful birthplace of the American motion picture industry.

I first learned about this while reading about the life and times of Walt Disney.

Many don’t know it … most of America doesn’t know it … however, it’s still a fact that New Jersey is the official birthplace of the American film industry. It all started in 1907, with the first film studio being built in 1909 in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Fort Lee actually became the first American film town. The entire population of Fort Lee worked in the motion picture business.

This makes Fort Lee the rightful birthplace of the American cinema.

New Jersey’s Inventor Thomas Edison had previously created America's first movie studio, which he named "Black Maria," which he built near West Orange, New Jersey.

With the help of his assistant, William Dickson, they created the kinetoscope, the early version of the film projector.

A lot of the movies that have been made in New Jersey … were filmed (at least in part) in Atlantic City.
