The embattled Atlantic City, New Jersey Housing Authority Board continues to do itself no favors.

They have now awarded $ 3 million for Stanley Holmes Village Apartments work without a competitive bidding process.

We caught-up last night with Matt Doherty, the former executive director of the Atlantic City Housing Authority.

Doherty told us:

“They just awarded $ 3 million in no bid work at tonight's meeting,” said Doherty.

Doherty also advised that the Atlantic City Housing Authority is spending good money after bad, because:

“The amount of the contract would be more than the estimated $ 5 million it would cost to install an entirely new heating system at Stanley Holmes that would not depend on underground water pipes,” Doherty told us.

Doherty wanted a new decentralized system to be installed at the Stanley Holmes Village Apartments.

This system would allow residents to have complete control of both the heating and air conditioning of their apartments on a convenient demand basis

The residents of the Stanley Holmes Village Apartments have been forced to live without heat and hot water for more than two years.

Doherty blew the whistle on the corruption and was fired by the Atlantic City Housing Authority Board, without cause.

United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew, NJ-R-2 has been stepping-up regularly for public housing residents of Atlantic City.

Van Drew’s efforts have not gone by unnoticed and his massive efforts are beginning to yield results.

The Atlantic City Housing Authority is under the microscope of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and other legal controlling authorities.

Developing.
