Prosecutor: Little Egg Harbor Man Who Supplied Lethal Drugs to Teen Remains Jailed

A Little Egg Harbor Township man who was charged, then arrested, detained, and brought to jail for his role in supplying a lethal concoction of heroin and fentanyl to a 16-year old township resident will remain jailed pending trial.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer made the announcement Friday that David Belk, 45, was ordered by a judge to remain detained in the Ocean County Jail pending trial on charges of Strict Liability Drug Induced Death, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Heroin in connection with the death of a sixteen-year-old man in Little Egg Harbor on July 3rd.

Bell's co-conspirator, Stephanie O'Neill, 44, of Little Egg Harbor, was released by the court on heading into home detention pursuant to New Jersey's bail reform law.

Little Egg Harbor Police responded to a home on East Susquehanna Drive on July 3rd and found the 16-year old lying on the floor while unresponsive.

Life saving techniques were administered on scene before the teen was brought to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin where he later passed away.

The investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office Major Crime Unit and Little Egg Harbor Police led to the identification of O'Neill and Belk as the suppliers.

O'Neill was arrested right away while Belk fled the area. He was arrested on August 27th by NJ Transit Police in Atlantic City and has been in the Ocean County Jail ever since.

The detention hearing for Belk was handled by Ocean County Assistant Prosecutor Lynn Juan.
