As summer wanes, we're still battling a good amount of humidity — which feeds the often-hidden danger of mold growth that can cause both property damage and health issues.

Property damage is one thing. It can be fixed. However, moisture left unattended can also be hazardous to your health. As my friends at Perfect Basement explain on their website:

The EPA estimates that most of us spend 90% of our time indoors, but we are unaware of the health hazards created by indoor air pollutants in our homes or offices. MOLD is a very common and dangerous indoor air hazard. Mold can cause health problems ranging from allergies to skin rashes to life-threatening infections.

People are likely spending more time in their homes than they used to, so don't let the humidity get too high in basements, bathrooms and other vulnerable areas. According to Health.com, mold can grow in a variety of shades of black, green and brown and emits a musty scent, although the smell isn't always apparent to homeowners. Unfortunately, mold also can grow on surfaces that aren't visible to homeowners.

In other words, you could have a problem lurking and not realize it.

If mold remediation is needed, Perfect Basement will work to contain it so it doesn't spread, kill it with biocides, remove the dead mold spores, treat the area to prevent future mold growth and eliminate the source of moisture that allowed the mold to grow in the first place.

If you think you might have a mold or moisture problem, give Perfect Basement a call to schedule a free inspection at 888-665-3259. Remember, Perfect Basement Owner Brian Lapore is personally involved with each and every project. Please tell them that Harry Hurley sent you!
