According to Egg Harbor City Police, the accident actually began further up the White Horse Pike (Route 30). Shortly after 7:30 AM Monday, Christopher Purks, 31, was westbound on Rt. 30 when his car was hit from behind by a dump truck. The crash forced the car off the roadway and continued on.

Police say the truck, driven by Rogelio Serrano, 69, of Vineland, continued westbound, now in the eastbound lanes of traffic. The truck left the roadway, went through a field, struck some trees, and then the house at 1500 White Horse Pike.

Police say the lone occupant of the house, Richard Beck, 80, was sitting on the first floor when the impact happened. Both Serrano and Beck were transported to the hospital by EMS for reported minor injuries. The driver of the car, Purks, reported to police that he was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
