Villas Man Charged With Attempted Murder of Woodbine Man
A Woodbine man is hospitalized after being shot by a Villas man, apparently during an attempted robbery.
Troopers from New Jersey State Police say they responded to a call shortly before 1am Tuesday at a home in Woodbine.
Upon arrival, they were met by Anthony Primavera, 30, of Woodbine, who had been shot.
According to a new release from State Police,
Troopers discovered that Primavera was shot once in the abdomen during a robbery, which occurred inside of a detached garage on the property. Primavera was transported to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center-Atlantic City Division where he was listed in stable condition.
During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify, James Matthews, 24, of Villas, N.J. as a suspect. After a brief search, Matthews surrendered himself to troopers at Woodbine Station where he was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of weapons. Matthews was lodged at Cape May County Jail in lieu of $750,000 full cash bail.
Charges are mere accusations and the suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty.
