The Atlantic City, New Jersey Board of Education will hold an emergency meeting on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.

The purpose is to decide whether or not they will suspend La’Quetta Small, the superintendent of public schools.

This should have been done more than a month ago, when La’Quetta Small was criminally charged by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office with:

LA'QUETTA SMALL is criminally charged with:

  • 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
  • 3 separate counts of disorderly persons simple assault.

Additionally, Marty Small and Constance Days-Chapman have also been criminally charged as follows:

MARTY SMALL is criminally charged with:

  • 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
  • 3rd degree aggravated assault
  • 3rd degree terroristic threats
  • disorderly persons simple assault.

CONSTANCE DAYS-CHAPMAN is criminally charged with:

  • second-degree Official Misconduct.
  • third-degree Hindering Apprehension of
  • Another.
  • fourth-degree Obstruction of Justice.
  • disorderly persons Failure to Report Child Abuse.

Days-Chapman was immediately suspended upon being criminally charged.

A majority of Atlantic City Board of Education have direct conflicts of interest because they have immediate family members who have jobs within the Atlantic City public schools system.

It’s disgraceful. Last week, the board held a special meeting to vote on the “Doctrine of Necessity,” in order to permit them to vote … on matters where they otherwise would have a conflict of interest and prevented from doing so.

Marty and La’Quetta Small hold a lot of power over these board members.

If Marty Small succeeds in convincing a majority of the Board of Education to vote against La'Quetta Smalls' suspension tonight … they will have created a crisis that the state of New Jersey will have to promptly resolve.

The Atlantic City Board of Education has hired David Rubin as special counsel for the La'Quetta Small matter. Rubin is an expert in school board law.

Rubin well knows that the Atlantic City Board of Education is required to suspend La'Quetta Small because the criminal charges she faces are child abuse charges.

In the end, the Atlantic City Board of Education may simply ignore this.

Then, it will be up to the state of New Jersey to make the decision.
