A 41-year-old Egg Harbor Township man is dead following a traffic accident Saturday morning in the township.

Egg Harbor Township Police say the accident happened about 8:40 AM at the intersection of Ocean Heights and Virginia Avenues.

These are the details of the crash, according to police:

A 1990 Mack Truck, operated by Clifford Grant, 57 years old of Estell Manor, was traveling northbound on Ocean Heights Avenue. As the Mack Truck was approaching Virginia Avenue, a 2012 Honda Civic, operated by Adam Stover, 41 years old of Egg Harbor Township, initiated a left turn onto Ocean Heights Avenue from Virginia Avenue in front of Mr. Grant's vehicle. As it made the turn, the Honda was struck by the Mack Truck on the driver side.

After striking the Honda, the momentum of the Mack Truck pushed Mr. Stover's vehicle onto the other side of the roadway. Both vehicles were forced off the southbound shoulder of Ocean Heights Avenue and the momentum of the vehicles forced them through a utility pole along the shoulder of the roadway. The utility pole struck was structurally compromised and needed immediate replacement.

Stover was entrapped in the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say Grant was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them at 609-926-2643.
