Prosecutor’s Office Now Investigating Fatal Crash in Egg Harbor City
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office says an unlicensed driver has been charged in connection to a crash that killed a 7-year-old boy in Egg Harbor City Wednesday night.
Updating our previous story -- around 8:45 Wednesday night, authorities responded to a pedestrian-motor vehicle crash involving an adult female and a young child. A preliminary investigation shows a pick-up truck was traveling west on the White Horse Pike approaching Buffalo Avenue. As the truck approached, an adult female and two young children were crossing the White Horse Pike when the female and one of the children were struck.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene and the female was taken to ARMC-City with life threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck was identified as 30-year-old Jorge Rodriguez. Rodriguez was charged with Unlicensed Driver Involved in a Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash. He was also issued a motor vehicle summons for being an unlicensed driver. He was processed and released on a complaint-summons.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is encouraged to contact the Egg City Police Department at (609) 965-2901.
