South Jersey Man Thrown in Prison for 11 Years on Drug, Gun Charges
A South Jersey man will be spending the next decade or so behind bars on drug and weapon charges.
After pleading guilty, on Monday, 47-year-old Rasheed Amin of Voorhees was sentenced to 133 months, or about 11 years, in prison for conspiring to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine and possessing a firearm.
How Investigators Tracked the Cocaine Shipments
Federal authorities said on multiple occasions in 2024 that Amin flew from Philadelphia to various cities in the western United States to obtain cocaine for further distribution. He then mailed packages containing cocaine to his home in Voorhees and other addresses in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York.
On October 29th, 2024, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at his house and they recovered several kilos of cocaine, as well as a loaded firearm.
Amin, a previously-convicted felon, admitted to possessing the cocaine and the firearm recovered from his residence.
Officials thanked the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Philadelphia Division, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations-Newark, and the Camden County and Cherry Hill Police Departments for their work in this case.
